Pillows

If you use feather pillows—and in this part of Nebraska many of us still sleep on what was once Grandma’s Feather Bed—did you know that you can have those pillows cleaned and encased in new ticking at Liberty? If you’ve ever tried this job on your own, you know how messy it is and how difficult it is to get those feathers really clean. Liberty to the rescue!

Here’s a photo of our pillow cleaning machine, a simple piece of equipment that cleans, fluffs, sanitizes and deodorizes the feathers.

Here’s what our original pillow looked like. Not a pretty sight and certainly not something you’d want to be sleeping on.

So, how did we get it clean and fresh? Follow along.

First, we insert new ticking into the machine. Our customer selected blue, but we also have white, pink and yellow. Then, we dumped the feathers from the old pillow into the machine for cleaning. The feathers go round and round while a special ultra violet light sanitizes them and the rotation helps to drop dirt and other debris into a filter at the bottom of the machine. Then a vacuum sucks the feathers out of the cleaning side of the unit and blows them into the new ticking.

Here’s the finished product ready for a good night’s rest. Sleep tight.
